A few hours later, Nammoi came for people, and Senqai sent me house with her, telling us to go back each day. That they had a lot of lab assistants along with other servants with routine knowledge of magic, and enough folks of intermediate sizes to interpret for all those with the quietest, highest-pitched voices, and so i had not been needed. Nammoi and I passed a couple of quiet, restful days, going twice a day to ask the porter at Silinu's house whether our master had messages for all of us, and spending the rest of our time exploring one another's bodies, or helping out with the care of these injured in the original disaster or in accidents that had occurred since that time. Once, Senqai sent us to retrieve a book from his library; otherwise, we were at liberty.

The bigger giants huddled in the field outside town were in a sorry plight, slowly dying of thirst because the lake had opted dry, and starving.
